Gore Bike Wear Professional Derailleur Cables Case: New cable set developed with Pro-Team input. The choice of the top six finishers at this years Tour de France (2009). Designed specifically for road bikes, this cable system sets the new standard for shifting performance in any riding conditions. Ultra-long nosed ferrules and GRUB seals protect the cables where they are normally exposed. Trusted by SRAM®-sponsored professional road racing teams. Also works great for cyclocross bikes with down tube cable routing. Place bicycle in repair stand and shift chain onto smallest ring/cog combination.Note: There are two different lengths of cables in the kit. THE LONGER CABLE IS FOR THE REAR DERAILLEUR, THE SHORTER CABLE IS FOR THE FRONT DERAILLEUR. Each cable has 2 end terminations - a larger end (Shimano ®/SRAM ®, 4.4mm) and a smaller end (Campagnolo®, 4.0mm). Select the end that corresponds to your brand of shifter and remove the end termination you will not be using.Remove old cables and housing; note existing cable routing and location of ferrules. Using old housing pieces as a pattern, cut new housing lengths to match. Using wire cutters and awl make sure housing ends are free of burrs and wide open.Turn barrel adjusters fully clockwise.Pass ultra-long nosed ferrules through downtube housing stops, routing the ultra-long nose through the bottom bracket guide and seating the ferrule body in the housing stops.Place the standard nosed ferrule in the housing stop on the chain stay.For the front derailleur, trim the ultra-long nose about 1" (25 mm) from the pinchbolt of the front derailleur. For the rear derailleur, trim the ultra-long nose about 1/4" (6 mm) from the end of the nose on the standard nosed ferrule.Install the new housing on the bike, placing the housing in the nosed ferrules already on the bike frame, and using standard ferrules at the shifters and at the rear derailleur. Carefully feed the new cables through new housing, ferrules, and cable housing stops.Carefully feed the new cables through new housing, ferrules, and cable housing stops.Place a Grub Seal over the end of the front derailleur cable's ultra-long nose, and over the gap between the ultra-long nose and standard nose at the chain stay for the rear derailleur cable. This will protect the cables from contamination.With cable held taught, secure it in pinch bolt, tightening to derailleur manufacturer's torque requirements. Trim off excess cable and crimp a cap on cable end. Slide red crimp cap cover over crimp cap.Adjust shifting as usual.
