With its small size light weight XLR microphone-simulated output and Power Sponge output attenuator the Windsor Studio is equally suited to recording and live-performance applications.The single-channel Windsor Studio features a footswitchable Boost button which increases the preamp level to allow the flexibility of a dual-channel amp plus control over the dynamic response and rich distortion characteristics of its class-A tube power topology. The Boost function can be used as an overdrive feature for the power section or simply as a volume boost for soloing.This 15-watt amplifier uses two 12AX7 preamp tubes and one EL34 power-amp tube in a single-ended configuration with no negative feedback. The power section is designed to accommodate 6L6GC 6550 6CA7 KT88 and KT66 octal power tubes as well as variations on those types. Peavey s exclusive new Power Sponge output attenuator incrementally adjusts the power output of the amplifier while maintaining the distortion characteristics of the power amp at any chosen volume level.Also onboard is a transformer-balanced XLR direct output with a unique microphone simulator that allows players to send the amplifier signal to a recording device or front-of-house mix without the use of a microphone. In 2002 Gibson followed up this innovative accomplishment with yet another breakthrough in pickup design the Burstbucker Pro designed specifically for the new Les Paul Standards. The Burstbucker Pro features an Alnico V magnet (instead of the Alnico II) which offers slightly higher output and allows preamps to be driven a little harder to achieve a more natural break-up. Many of these white musicians played with and learned from black musicians, for even in the Jim Crow Era there was always a good deal of musical interaction and exchange. So it is that the term 'Hillbilly Blues' can be used to describe the music made by white musicians of that era in the Country Blues style. Included on this DVD are songs from Clarence Greene, known mostly as a fiddler, but an ace guitarist, Dick Justice, who in his one day in the recording studio waxed ten masterful performances, Frank Hutchison who excelled at lap slide, harmonica on a rack and conventional blues picking, Sam Mc Gee, a banjo and guitar master who went on to star on the Grand Ole Opry, Hobart Smith, a musical powerhouse, Maybelle Carter, a rocksteady and beautifully lyrical player who may have been the most influential of the bunch and Emry Arthur, a soulful singer and player who recorded one of the earliest versions of Man Of Constant Sorrow.The songs selected for inclusion on the DVD have been chosen to introduce you to a variety of different keys and playing positions, as well as a host of different right hand techniques.A PDF included on the DVD offers not only detailed transcriptions of the songs, but the songs' lyrics, too. All of the original performances by the musicians are included on the DVD as bonus tracks, both as references and for your listening enjoyment.

This new genres players were demanding more powerful amplifiers with increased volume outputs to satisfy their sonic explorations. This led to a call for a more versatile pickup and Gibson answered the call with the 490T and 490R pickups (T for treble and R for rhythm) humbuckers with the tonal characteristics of an original PAF but with a slight increase in upper mid-range response.The Gibson 498T bridge pickup is the 490s ideal complement. Taking the 490 one step further the 498 swaps the Alnico II magnet to an Alnico V thus making it slightly hotter with emphasis on mid-ranges and highs.
