The Nord Wave closes that gap and brings the user replaceable samples to life again by integrating them in a virtual analog environment. Does the better of two worlds sound too pretentious for you? Wait until you have heard the Wave.WHAT IT IS ALL ABOUT?By having two oscillators capable of producing a vast array of sounds from classic analog waveforms (with sync) FM synthesis wavetables sampled waves (single cycle waveforms with attack) as well as noise and other miscellaneous waveforms the Nord Wave has an unprecedented pallet of sounds for you to use as foundation. Need a rich and full string quartet? No problem just call up a string sample. Want a highly resonant screaming lead? Sure; virtual analog is there but why not combine them not just mix them together? With the Wave you can create an analog lead with the harmonic content of the sampled string quartet! With oscillator modulation you can transfer the character of one sound to the other - for instance a sampled string to an analog square. By controlling the amount of modulation the effect can range from very subtle to extremely aggressive so that the original waveforms are no longer recognizable. Within moments you will experience sounds never heard before sounds that will function as a great source of inspiration and lift the joy of playing and sound design to new levels.DIGITAL SAMPLES IN AN ANALOG ENVIRONMENTThe sound of a resonant filter with a 24 d B slope applied to a sampled sound brings it so much to life that some times this is all you need but there are many other parameters available to affect your samples. All elements of an analog synthesizer can be incorporated: amplifier and modulation envelopes LFOs filters and effects. Some convenient sample modifications are also available. By using alternative start points you can skip the attack portion of the sample and only use the body of the sound for e.g. modulation purposes.OSCILLATOR MODULATIONOscillator 1 uses two types of oscillator modulation to bring out different characteristics to a blended sound: Phase Modulation and Frequency Modulation. Disparate sounds can be achieved depending on the combination of waveforms generated by the two oscillators ? using oscillator modulation particular characteristics of those waveforms can be seamlessly blended and enhanced to make a new kind of sound. An analog triangle waveform will adopt much of the details of the modulating waveform and make an almost transparent synthesized effect using Phase Modulation. An analog saw waveform will still sound hard when modulated so wavetables can be used instead to create variations in tonal character. Frequency Modulation has a more dramatic effect widening the harmonic content and preserving more of the character of the original waveform.HIGH QUALITY SAMPLESTo us quality supersedes quantity. Great samples are not determined by their size in bytes but by how well their detail and character are preserved. PRISM looks at the whole picture rather than just concentrating on one aspect of a players tone. Lets take a look at the P35s pre amp from left to right. The left hand side of the pre amp houses the AMP settings and the mode selection switches and onboard tuner the centre of the pre amp features the conventional amplifier controls and the right hand side of the pre amp is devoted to handling the effects side of things and the overall master volume control. The P35 can be used in one of two modes - HERO & LIVE. Simply press the corresponding button to select the desired mode. HERO mode comes pre-loaded with 11 inspirational guitar tones from "Clean to Extreme" which take their inspiration from the different amp and effects combinations used on classic guitar recordings.Dialing through each of the HERO modes will also show you the cool LED visual recall - for each mode the position of each of the P35s controls is shown by LED indicators around each knob showing you exactly what each value is. GREAT FEATURE! In LIVE mode the P35s controls function like a conventional WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) amplifier but with the cool feature of being able to use one of the 11 different AMP setting as a starting point for producing your own tone. Simply select the AMP mode you want adjust the controls to suit and the add the effects you want - more on that in a moment - and then store the end result to one of the four user channels on the amp by simply pressing and holding the desired channel button for 2 seconds.Any of these AMP modes can be selected and then modified and stored along with the effects you want to one of the four user defined channels. The P35 also features a variable BOOST function which can be assigned to any of the AMP modes adjusted to suit your needs and stored in one of the user banks for later recall. The P35 houses a comprehensive multi-FX Palette consisting of 11 carefully selected effect combinations giving you access to all the classic studio quality effects you?ll need. Each effects selection is fully editable with all the key parameters accessible by the TAP and EDIT control functions and combinations of the TAP A B & bypass buttons all of which are fully explained in the manual.The P35 generates 35 watts RMS output and houses an 10" Custom Driver. Round the back of the unit the rear panel houses an extension speaker out a phones / record out socket and the FS2 and FS1 footswitch sockets to enable foot switching of the user channels.
