Playstation Move The Play Station 3 Motion Controller was unveiled at E3 2009 where several tech demos were shown to demonstrate the types of experiences this new-gen controller will offer. The Playstation 3 Motion Controller contains built-in motion sensors including a colour-changing orb at its head which interacts with the Play Station Eye camera to track movement. This tracking is precise meaning the Play Station 3 Motion Contoller recreates every single swing of the arm and twist of the wrist exactly on screen. Time to Move The PS3 has had Motion Technology since it’s launch back in 2007. The Sixaxis controller launched with the Play Station 3 and gave gamers a small amount of motion control. Fast forward 3 years and Sony have now stepped up with Play Station Move. Get your Move on The Play Station Move gives Play Station 3 gamers a new way to play and interact with their Play Station 3. The Move is actually broken into three separate parts; the motion controller sub-controller and the Play Station Eye camera. The Play Station Move Motion Controller and Play Station Eye Camera The Move Motion Controller contains advanced motion sensors such as a three-axis accelerometer a three-axis gyroscope and a terrestrial magnetic field sensor to measure your movements and motions which are translated into on screen movements and commands. The colour changing sphere on the end of the controller is tracked by the Play Station Eye and by using the power of the Play Station 3 it detects the movements angle and the absolute position in 3D space to add to the accuracy. Play Station Move Sub-Controller This newly announced part of Play Station Move is a one handed controller that further expands the interaction that you can experience with Play Station Move titles. The sleek design makes the Sub-controller easy and comfortable to use. But for those who still enjoy buttons the Sub-contoller comes with an analog stick and directional buttons to move characters and navigate menus. Moving to the beat At this point there are 36 third party developers and publishers gearing up to support the Play Station Move but what they are working on is still under wraps.
