Advanced wireless functions that the DWL-8600AP supports include: WEP data encryption, WPA/WPA2 security, client MAC address filtering, AP load balancing, Qo S/WMM Wireless Multimedia, and Rogue AP Detection. Security configuration settings can be locally stored in the DWL-8500AP itself. Alternatively, the DWL-8600AP can operate in conjunction with a D-Link DWS-4026 unified wired/wireless switch. In this mode, multiple DWL-8600AP access points can connect directly or indirectly to one of these switches to provide unparalleled security and wireless mobility for wireless clients. The DWL-8600AP delivers concurrent wireless performance with maximum wireless signal rates in both frequency bands simultaneously. With dualband connectivity, two wireless networks are created both running at full bandwidth speeds, offering a significant increase in total network capacity. The architecture of most current wireless LAN controllers require wireless traffic to return to the controller for centralised processing, providing unnecessary traffic delay. The DWL-8600AP – when operating with a DWS-4026 switch – offers administrators extra options. Depending on the wireless application, wireless traffic can either be tunnelled back to the switch for better security control, or locally forwarded at the access point for optimal performance. When operating in conjunction with a DWS-4026 switch, the switch automatically configures every connected “thin” DWL-8600AP access point, so no configuration is necessary during installation. If a DWL-8600AP needs to be replaced, the replacement DWL-8600AP automatically inherits the same configuration, making the replacement process a simple one. The DWL-8600AP continuously scans both frequency bands and their associated channels to detect rogues while simultaneously providing wireless connectivity to mobile clients. If a rogue is detected, it reports the result to the DWS-4026 wireless switch that manages it. From a management console, administrators can identify the rouge AP and take appropriate action.

The DAP-2553 delivers reliable wireless performance with maximum wireless signal rates of up to 300Mbps* in either the 2.4GHz or 5GHz wireless band. This, coupled with support for Wi-Fi Multimedia WMM Quality of Service features, makes it an ideal access point for audio, video, and voice applications. Additionally, the DAP-2553 supports load-balancing features to ensure maximum performance by limiting the maximum number of users per Access Point. To maximize total return on investment, the DAP-2553 can be configured to optimize network performance based on any one of its multiple operation modes: Access Point, Wireless Distribution System WDS with Access Point, WDS/Bridge No AP Broadcasting and Wireless Client. With WDS support, network administrators can set up multiple DAP-2553s throughout a facility and configure them to bridge with one another while also providing network access to individual clients. Network administrators have multiple options for managing the DAP-2553 including Web HTTP, Secure Sockets Later SSL, which provides for a secure connection to the Internet, Secure Shell SSH, which provides for a secure channel between local and remote computers, and Telnet bi-directional, eight-bit byte oriented communications facility. For advanced network management, administrators can use the D-Link AP Manager II or D-View SNMPv3 management module to configure and manage multiple access points from a single location.
