Specifically designed to be connected to your "mains" electricity supply, these Hydro turbines are supplied with a very user friendly, robust power controller and 2500W Windy Boy Inverter. Each Grid-Tie Mini Water Hydro turbine kit contains everything you require to carry out a "self install" of the system (except the main feed pipe). Refer to our detailed instructions relating to making connection to your electricity supply, where you will find details of what you can and cannot self-install. This will also detail what items you will need to supply in order to complete the installation. Please note, your stream or small river should have a "drop" of at least 10m, and a "flow rate" of at least 10 litres per second, before a Mini Water turbine becomes viable. Your site must be professionally surveyed prior to carrying out this kind of installation, in order to correctly design the turbine to suit your water resources. See "site survey" pricing below. We offer a nationwide installation service (mainland UK) for those who wish to have their turbine professionally installed, or you can choose to have your system professionally "commissioned" once you have completed the pipe-work installation yourself. The Mini Wind battery charging range of turbines are designed for exposed locations, where winds regularly become strong, and where a durable turbine is required. Suitable for charging large capacity battery banks of 24V or 48V (600Ah+) these turbines are supplied with a very user friendly, robust charge controller and regulator. A purpose designed, hydraulically operated, wind turbine tower is also available, offering a very substantial mounting installation for the entire Mini Wind turbine range. The turbine can be mounted and operated using this or any other suitable tower type. All Mini Wind turbines are of the "Downwind" type, meaning that they face downstream of the wind direction. This minimises the number of moving parts in the system, thus minimising the maintenance requirements of the turbine. The 6-bladed rotor is 1.8m in diameter, with each blade being manufactured from a very high strength glass filled nylon. The outer cowling covers and protects the 2200W Permanent Magnet Generator, with all other parts being of galvanized heavy steel. The turbine controller connects to the 3-phase power output of the turbine, and monitors both the power output and temperature of it in all operating conditions. This allows the turbine to remain in operation in high wind speeds, when other turbines have shut down.
