An enamels factory in Lower Saxony makes these house numbers for us to order. We have limited ourselves to 2 colour combinations and 2 fonts. Even so, with two-digit numbers you would still have almost 400 combinations available. And then there are the three-digit numbers... Enamel is a molten glass mass which is applied to a steel sheet and then fired on at 810 °C. For the house numbers, three layers are applied: base enamelling, top enamelling and then the decoration. Production is done by hand. Small irregularities, e.g. as a result of suspension when firing, are a condition of the production method and are not a quality defect. The holes are fitted with metal grommets, to protect the glaze. Enamel affords excellent protection against corrosion which means that one sign can outlast a lifetime. As long as it is not dropped before it is installed. Choose between the colour combinations white on blue and black on white, as well as the Standard typeface (seen on No. 19) and Block Letters (seen on No. 21). 12 x 12 cm.
