The reproduction rate of Chlorella is especially interesting, for it is one of the highest of all known plants. One mother cell can divide into 4 daughter cells in 16 20 hours, and then divide again in the next 16 20 hours. Considering its unique nutrition and health properties it is easy to understand the world wide interest (i.e. China) in the cultivation of chlorella even in parts of the world which are not traditionally known for a high interest in supplements. Chlorella contains up to 4 % chlorophyll, which ranks it the highest of all plants. E-Lyte Chlorella contains: 46 % proteins / 12 % fats / 10 % minerals / 2 % chlorophyll / and 7 % misc. ingredients. Calcium, magnesium, potassium and phosphorus are the predominate minerals, as well as trace elements such as selenium and zinc. Tryptophan is of special interest (about 0.3 % of wgt.), which is the precursor for serotonin. Alpha-Linolenic acid, C18:3w3, is an important omega 3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) in chlorella. Chlorella contains a broad spectrum of vitamins, A, B1, B6, B12 and E which are present in high concentrations. For example, 3 g of E-Lyte Chlorella contains sufficient vitamin B12 for the recommended daily intake (RDA); very interesting for vegetarians. The production of E-Lyte Chlorella uses a patented technique developed in Germany. This completely new technology uses glass tubes in a unique innovative manufacturing system. More than 500 km (1666 feet) of glass tubes are arranged in frames. The frames are joined into 20 individual units. Each of these 20 units are operated independently. The total volume of the glass tubes amounts to about 600 m3 or 22,200 ft3. The cultivating solution containing the culture of Chlorella is continuously pumped through the glass tubes with food grade ingredients added in precisely. Many parameters such as temperature must be tightly controlled for the optimal growth of Chlorella. The 20 units are held in racks in an all glass green house of 12,000 m2 (130,000 sq. ft.), complete with total heating and cooling facilities. Only sunlight is used for the photosynthetic growth of E-Lyte Chlorella. Even in winter, there is enough daylight for modest growth. For the last 30 years many different suppliers market algae in various forms of pills, tablets, or capsules as food additives. They are almost exclusively imported, principally from Asia, and are all cultivated in open ponds. Medical literature reports about the positive effects of Chlorella for the growth of nails and hair and the improved state of the skin. Cosmetic studios and beauty salons are applying Chlorella powder for the preparation of skin masks. We also receive some interesting cosmetic feedback on the stimulating activities of bathing in Chlorella preparations and the positive effects on the skin. Chlorella is endowed with unsaturated fatty acids and antioxidants which protect against coronary disease, as well as an impressive array of health supporting nutrients, however, the protecting effects of chlorella are not just due to its content of vitamins, fats and amino acids. Its health effects seem to be too unique to come exclusively from its nutrient content. This may be why that much of the research in the last few years has focused on the identification of physiological effective components. The main attention has been to identify a mixture of nucleic acids, peptides and enzymes, obtained by the extraction of Chlorella cells by hot or cold water. This mixture in the medical literature is also designated as the Chlorella Growth Factor. The mixture or extract, as well as some of the single components isolated from the extract, show distinct health modulating effects mostly regarding the immune system.Other Ingredients: Chlorella vulgaris powder 3 grams, Magnesium Stearate, Silicic Acid Suggested Use: To improve well being take 10 tablets daily Warnings/Caution: Keep Out of Reach of Children.
