Once in Montreal, you will have a number of departure times to choose from for your three hour Greater Montreal Tram Tour. Highlights include Old Montreal, The Olympic site, Mc Gill University, Mt. Royal and a tour of Notre Dame Basilica. After your Montreal City Tour, you have the remainder of the day to enjoy Montreal at your leisure. Your return transportation is valid for any of the hourly departures between Montreal and Ottawa, allowing you to choose how long you wish to stay in historical Montreal. Itinerary: The Discover Montreal Tour is made up of 3 components: Ottawa to Montreal - The bus leaving Ottawa to go to Montreal departs at 7:00am (November 05-to May 06) 8:00am (May 06 to Oct 06) and it is advised to be at least 30 minutes early. When passengers arrive in Montreal they are to ask the coach bus driver to let them off at the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, also known as Mansfield stop. The pick up for the tour is at 1001 Dorchester Street, between Metcalfe and Peel. To get to that location from the hotel (on Boul. Rene Levesque) walk left 2 blocks to Metcalfe Street and up 1 block to Dorchester. That is where you will find the Gray Line Montreal ticket office. Greater Montreal Tram Tour - Tour leaves on the hour from 9:00am-3:00pm. At the end of the tour, passengers are asked to advise the Montreal tour bus driver that they wish to get off at the Montreal Greyhound bus station. From there they will take the Greyhound bus back to Ottawa. Montreal to Ottawa - The buses leaving Montreal going to Ottawa leave every hour on the hour until midnight. Please Note: Oct - May Montreal Tram Tours run at 10 and 1 pm ONLY, you must take the 7:00am bus from Ottawa.

At the end of the 16th century Genoa was a rich city – its port opened into the heart of Mediterranean Europe its merchants traded throughout the world and its bankers were owed by the rulers of Europe. This wealth attracted the great artists of the continent bring to Genoa the Flemish Tuscan Lombard and other styles and creating the first truly ‘European’ artistic culture. It was from this culture that emerged the greatest Genovese painter: Bernardo Strozzi.Despite his tormented and isolated soul Strozzi absorbed the styles influences and lessons of the masters whose works could be admired in Genoa including Rubens and Caravaggio. Born in the last years of the 16th century in Antwerp the overwhelming influences of Italy and an outstanding ability for portrait painting dominated the life of the Great Master.In his early years in Antwerp Van Dyck and his first major works were heavily influenced by Rubens. Keen to expand his style Van Dyck travelled to Italy. Although he settled in Genoa his search for inspiration took him around the country through Rome Florence Turin Milan Venice and many other major centres of art. Along the way he kept detailed notes allowing the influences he encountered – the great works the great names the architecture the politics and the history – to continue to make an impact on his painting for many years.In 1632 he moved to London and the court of Charles I. Here he would produce some of his most famous portraits as well as seeing out his remaining years.In this fascinating programme we study Van Dyck’s life influences inspirations and travels to help understand his greatest masterpieces.
