    Gear 4 Music Product Information
Angled Headstock The Firebirds distinct headstock stays true to Gibsons industry-changing way of thinking. Like every Gibson headstock the angled Firebird headstock is carved out of the same piece of mahogany as the neck. The angle is carefully set to 14 degrees 0 instead of the traditional 17 degrees - to accommodate the headstocks radical contour and to keep pressure on the strings. The headstocks form insures straight string pull which when combined with the increased string pressure means there is no loss of string vibration between the nut and the tuners equaling better sustain. Banjo-styled tuners provide the necessary clearance between tuner buttons allowing for comfortable access and uncomplicated tuning. This process takes craftsmanship time and effort but the rewards are certainly worth the effort. The Firebird V Neck Profile No guitar neck profiles are more distinguishable than the neck profiles employed on the Gibson models of today. The more traditional 50s neck profile is the thicker more rounded contour emulating the neck shapes of Gibsons iconic models of the late 1950s. The 60s neck profile is considered the more modern slim-tapered contour most commonly associated with the Gibson models of the early 1960s. The neck on Gibsons Firebird V has the best of both worlds - it is a hybrid between the 50s rounded contour and the 60s slim-taper profile. As with all Gibson necks it is machined in Gibsons rough mill using wood shapers to make the initial cuts. Once the fingerboard gets glued on the rest including the final sanding is done by hand. That means there are no two necks with the exact same dimensions. So while it still has the basic characteristics of its respective profile each neck will be slightly different with a distinct but traditional feel.Gibson High-Output Ceramic Mini Humbuckers The introduction of the mini humbucker in the late-1960s served a growing need?the demand for a P-90-sized pickup with no hum. Gibsons world-class engineers set about creating a smaller more compact humbucker to fit into the slot of a P-90. With its smaller size narrow magnetic field and unique design combination the mini humbucker produces a bright and focused output while still retaining Gibsons famous humbucker performance. The mini humbucker was first made available in several Gibson-made Epiphone models of the late 1960s and the Les Paul Deluxe in the early 1970s. Today it is best known as the pickup in the Gibson Firebird and is a vintage replica of the original mini humbucker with bar Alnico II magnets. The Gibson mini humbucker is authentic in every detail from its cream-colored plastic mounting and coated enamel wire to its maple spacers and vintage braided lead wire. The tone is unmistakable Gibson.Neck-Through-Body Construction and Solid Mahogany Body The Firebird Vs multiple-wood-ply construction is as structurally and aesthetically innovative as any Gibson feature. The neck and center piece of the body are constructed from solid mahogany as are the two wings that are glued on to each side to form the Firebirds distinct outline. Gluing all the pieces together insures maximum wood-to-wood contact and allows the neck and body to function as a single unit. This neck-through-body construction results in better tone and unsurpassed sustain and no loose or misaligned necks. The regimen involved in selecting the Firebird Vs wood and the formula to dry it out is closely controlled. First the wood is personally inspected and qualified by Gibsons team of skilled wood experts before it enters the factories. These onsite inspectors also insure that the plain maple comes from corporations adhering to the forest-saving standards of the Rainforest Alliance of which Gibson is a proud member and sponsor. Inside the Gibson factories humidity is maintained at 45 percent and the temperature at 70 degrees. This insures all woods are dried to a level of equilibrium where the moisture content does not change during the manufacturing process. This guarantees tight-fitting joints and no expansion and controls the shrinkage and warping of the woods in addition to reducing the weight. It also improves the woods machinability and finishing properties and adherence to glue. Consistent moisture content means that a Gibson guitar will respond evenly to temperature and humidity changes long after it leaves the factory.Features/Specifications:Body:Species: Mahogany Body Type: Firebird Bridge Type: Tune-O-Matic Tailpiece: Stop Bar Plating: Chrome Pickguard: Red Bird Logo Neck Species: Mahogany/Walnut Truss Rod: Traditional Adjustable Joint Angle: 5° (+/- 15 seconds)Joint: Mortise & Tenon Species: Rosewood Frets: 22Radius: 12"Binding: Single Ply Cream Binding Inlays: Figured Acrylic Trapazoidsb>Nut/E.O.B: 1.695"/2.260"Nut Headstock Type: Firebird Truss Rod Cover: Black with Gold "Gibson" Logo Pickups & Hardware:Pickups:Neck Position: 495RBridge Position: 495TStrings: .010 - .046 Genuine... Angled Headstock The pointed headstock on the V-Factor X is as typical as it is unique. Like every Gibson headstock it is carved out of the same piece of mahogany as the neck. It is not a "glued-on" headstock and the process takes craftsmanship time and effort. But the rewards are worth the effort. The headstock is carefully angled at 17 degrees which increases pressure on the strings and helps them stay in the nut slots. An increase in string pressure also means there is no loss of string vibration between the nut and the tuners which equals better sustain. A white truss rod cover adds a nice finishing touch to the headstock and perfectly complements the white pickguard on the V-Factor X body. The V-Factor X Neck Profile No guitar neck profiles are more distinguishable than the neck profiles employed on the Gibson models of today. The more traditional 50s neck profile is the thicker more rounded contour emulating the neck shapes of Gibsons iconic models of the late 1950s. The 60s neck profile is considered the more modern slim-tapered contour most commonly associated with the Gibson models of the early 1960s. So while it still has the basic characteristics of its respective profile each neck will be slightly different with a distinct but traditional feel.Solid Mahogany Body The most central of all V-Factor X features is its V-shaped solid mahogany body. Whether its the regular Flying V or the Gibson V-Factor X the solid mahogany body provides tone sustain and performance. The mahogany goes through the same rigorous selection process as all of Gibsons woods and is personally inspected and qualified by Gibsons team of skilled wood experts before it enters the factories. Inside the Gibson factories humidity is maintained at 45 percent and the temperature at 70 degrees. This insures all woods are dried to a level of "equilibrium" where the moisture content does not change during the manufacturing process. It also helps with improving the woods? machinability and finishing properties. Consistent moisture content means that a Gibson guitar will respond evenly to temperature and humidity changes long after it leaves the factory.Electronics When it comes to guitar electronics less is definitely better. And that certainly holds true with Gibsons V-Factor X. Gibson has chosen to install two volume controls and only one tone switch which translates into less resistance between the pickup and the actual output. That means you end up with nothing but pure tone from the pickup and one flat-out screaming rock and roll machine.Gibsons 496R and 500T Pickups No event is more responsible for dramatically influencing the evolution of popular music than Gibson?s introduction of the double-coil "humbucking" pickup in 1955. From the warm jazz tones of Charlie Christian to the world-shaking rockabilly of Scotty Moore and the cruching rock of Jimmy Page countless players around the world explored the limitless possibilities of the tonal spectrum through Gibson pickups and guitars. As the musical landscape changed so did the development of the humbucker pickup. Introduced in the early 1970s Gibsons 496R and 500T pickups filled the need for more powerful humbuckers and energized the emergence of hard rock and heavy metal. The 496R produces incredible sustain and cutting power with its ceramic magnet adding more highs with increased definition and no muddiness at all. The 500T is one of Gibsons most powerful pickups containing a three ceramic magnet structure which enables a no-holds-barred rock and roll crunch that never loses its rich combination of enhanced lows and crystal clear highs. This is one of Gibsons most potent pickup combinations.Features/Specifications:Body:Body Style: Flying VBody Species: Mahogany Neck:Species: Mahogany Nut: Corian Nut Width: Standard Gibson: 1.695" +/- .050"Truss Rod: Gibson Adjustable Truss Rod Truss Rod Cover: Flying V cover stamped with Gibson Logo Fingerboard:Fingerboard Species: Rosewood Inlays: Acrylic dot Number of Frets: 22Scale Length: 24 - 3/4"Electronics:Neck Pickup: 496RBridge Pickup: 500TControls: 2 Volume - 1 Tone - 3-Way Toggle Control Knobs: Black Tophats with Silver Inserts Hardware:Plating Finish: Chrome Tailpiece: Gibson Stop Bar Bridge: Gibson Tune-O-Matic Tuners: Grover Kluson Style Green Keys A certain aura of mystique surrounds the Gibson Flying V. The 500T is one of Gibson?s most powerful pickups containing a three ceramic magnet structure which enables a no-holds-barred rock and roll crunch that never loses its rich combination of enhanced lows and crystal clear highs. This is one of Gibson?s most potent pickup combinations.Features/Specifications:Body:Body Style: Flying VBody Species: Mahogany Neck:Species: Mahogany Nut: Corian Nut Width: Standard Gibson: 1.695" +/- .050"Truss Rod: Gibson Adjustable Truss Rod Truss Rod Cover: Flying V cover stamped with Gibson Logo Fingerboard:Fingerboard Species: Rosewood Inlays: Acrylic dot Number of Frets: 22Scale Length: 24 - 3/4"Electronics:Neck Pickup: 496RBridge Pickup: 500TControls: 2 Volume - 1 Tone - 3-Way Toggle Control... The Gibson/Epiphone Explorer series electric guitars are without a doubt one of the most striking shapes of electric guitar the world had ever seen. When it was released to an unsuspecting public in 1958 as part of the Gibsons Modernist Series. Players of the day just couldnt handle it and very few late-50s Explorers were produced. Fast-forward to the 70s and 80s and the revived Gibson Explorer quickly re-established itself as one of the most iconic electric guitars of the rock and metal scenes. To this day the Explorer is still highly regarded by heavier players throughout the rock and metal scenes its been seen played on stages the world over by the likes of Kisss Paul Stanley Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl U2s The Edge and recently in the animated hands of Dethklok on the Metalocalypse series.Features/Specifications:Body & Bridge:Body Style: Explorer Body Species: Mahogany Tailpiece: Gibson Stop Bar Bridge: Gibson Tune-O-Matic Neck:Species: Mahogany Nut: Corian Nut Width: Standard Gibson: 1.695" +/- .050"Headstock Inlay: Gibson Logo Truss Rod: Gibson Adjustable Truss Rod Fingerboard Species: Rosewood Inlays: Acrylic dot Number of Frets: 22Scale Length: 24 - 3/4"Pickups & Hardware:Pickups:Neck Pickup: 496RBridge Pickup: 500TControls: 2 Volume - 1 Tone - 3-Way Toggle Control Knobs: Black Speed Plating Finish: Chrome Tuners: Mini Grovers Gibson Explorer 2008 Model White - With its angular asymmetrical body and pointed headstock the legendary Gibson Explorer was light years ahead of its time when it was first introduced in 1958. In fact the Explorer was such a radical departure that Gibson produced only about 100 of the famed instruments-many of which are now highly prized collectibles selling for upwards of half a million dollars. Today the same far-out futuristic Gibson Explorer-reintroduced in the mid-1970s-is one of the most coveted powerhouses of screaming rock and roll.

Gibson Es-137c Classic Heritage Cherry Sunburst
    Gear 4 Music Product Information
Body:The ES-137 blends the looks and overall style of a single cutaway semi-hollowbody guitar and the sonic authority of a Gibson Les Paul Classic. It refines the basic design of earlier semi-hollowbody Gibsons by swapping the styles maple centreblock for solid mahogany to increase sustain and reduce feedback at even heavy metal volumes. With its single Florentine cutaway the ES-137 Classic draws on the heritage of Gibsons earlier ES-135 and ES-175 models for historic inspiration but sustain sizzle and some appealing non-traditional colour options make it an absolutely contemporary instrument.Although the ES-137 Classic also has a custom model the Classic has plenty of design charm and individuality. It features a top back and rims made of visually appealing curly maple on a 16-inches wide 20-inches long and 2-inches deep body. The cream binding is multi-ply on top and single ply on the back as well as trapezoid fretboard inlays with the Custom Shop?s world-class Les Paul Classics. But the 12th fret of the ES-137 sports a pearloid inlay "C" to denote its own classic status.Hardware:The ES-137 Classic shares Gibson 490 R and 498 T pickups with chrome and gold hardware options including a Nashville Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece. The instruments neck is sturdy three-ply maple supporting a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with pearloid inlays and single ply binding. It has a rounded profile and a 24-inch scale length and is 1 11/16th-inches wide at the nut. The tuners are Grover keystones. And complimenting the 490R and 498T humbuckers is the classic Gibson dual volume pot dual tone pot and three-way selector set configuration.Features / Specifications:Body Type: Semi-Hollowbody Top: Curly Maple Back: Curly Maple Centreblock: Solid Mahogany Neck: 3-ply Maple Fingerboard: Rosewood Frets: 22Hardware: Chrome When Gibsons carved-top guitar luthiers in Memphis began building the magnificent ES-137 Classic in 2002 it was an instant success that lived up to its name. The ES-137 is an instant "Classic" because it combines the glories of two classic styles of Gibson cornerstone instruments. Players sang – and still sing - its praises citing the ES-137 Classics great feel and gorgeous appearance as well as its astonishing sonic versatility from the smooth round clean tones required for old-school jazz to the snarl and distortion of cutting edge rock.
