Enhance your experience of one of Nevada’s most historic landmarks by adding a tour of the Eldorado Canyon Mine. This is the oldest, richest, and most famous gold mine in Southern Nevada, and you will get to experience it firsthand with “That Dam Mine Tour.” Depart in a comfortable touring vehicle with the best driver and guides in Las Vegas. Guests who participate during our summer hours (June-September) will begin with a tour of the 1880’s Eldorado Canyon Mine. The visit consists of a two-hour guided tour above and below ground that will take you into the mine and its history. It begins with a walking tour of the old Techatticup Millsite, where ore was brought out of the mine and separated into gold and silver. The tour will proceed into the Savage Mine about 500 feet. You will be able to view the actual veins that miners chased. The air temperature of the mine remains at a comfortable 70 degrees all year. Add to your visit to Eldorado Canyon Mine one of our optional ATV and horseback riding tours. The ATV tour is a half-hour back country trip through Nevada’s amazing landscapes. If you have a sense of adventure, this additional tour is for you! For that full Western experience, the horseback ride option is the thing to do. With some of the best wranglers in the West, you can spend an hour feeling like John Wayne while riding through beautiful cactus country. Those who choose not to add the ATV or horseback riding tours will participate in the full two-hour tour of the mine. Afterward, we will journey to the next destination—the historic Hoover Dam. You will have a full two hours at the dam, including time to go through the all-access Hoover Dam Discovery Tour and to experience the Visitor Centre and exhibit halls. During our summer tours, after this fun-filled excursion, we will stop at another must-see of the city—the Ethel M. Chocolate Factory. Enjoy a free sample of gourmet chocolate as you tour the factory and stroll through the beautiful cactus gardens.Guests participating during winter hours (October-May) won’t miss a thing. The tour simply switches to begin with the Hoover Dam tour and then be followed by the tour of Eldorado Canyon Mine. Enjoy a couple of days away in the peace of the New Forest. Enjoy a couple of days away in the peace of the New Forest. On this experience you'll be riding in a Western saddle. Western saddles are mainly used for western riding, for working horses throughout the United States and they're the choice of saddle for cowboys. They are designed to provide security and comfort for all riders on long journeys, especially over rugged terrain. Stay for one night's B&B at Bashley House on the southern edge of the forest, just a short walk from the 'local' Rising Sun Inn and from the stables where your trusty steed will be waiting to take you riding out amongst the wild ponies and foals and on into the leafy glades of the forest enclosures. There you may well spy the herds of deer or other inhabitants of the peaceful woodlands. Beginners and more experienced riders are welcome with paces to suit all abilities. There are many places of interest to visit, places to eat and other activities to enjoy locally. This Riding Break is based on two people sharing a double room en suite with continental breakfast at Bashley House or a similar graded B&B close to the stables. The break includes two 2 hour rides in western saddle for novice riders or traditional saddle for riders who are able to trot or canter. Please note there are no ride gallops or jumps.
