Set amidst a stunning eight acres of parkland within the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, the establishment is within 20 minutes of York city centre, where guests will find a number of attractions including York Minster. Other nearby sights include Castle Howard, Flamingo Land, the North York Moors National Park, Harrogate and Scarborough. Leeds Bradford Airport is 51 km away, Durham Tees Valley Airport is 61 km away and Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield is some 103 km away. This establishment is set in a Victorian mansion house near York. The building lies amidst stunning parkland within the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside. The recently completed multi-million pound investment provides an excellent base and is easily accessible from surrounding areas. Only 11 miles north of York on the A19 and 13 miles south of Thirsk, its location and magnificent backdrop make it the perfect venue for celebrating special occasions and it is a popular choice for leisure guests, weddings, private parties and corporate events. The family-friendly hotel comprises a total of 95 guest rooms and suites and is fully air-conditioned. Guests are welcomed into a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service and on-site facilities include lift access, a bar, a restaurant, conference facilities and WLAN Internet access. Fees apply for the room and laundry services. Guests arriving by car can leave their vehicles in the nearby car park. The fantastic newly refurbished en suite bedrooms have been designed to the highest standard with guests' comfort in mind. All of the bedrooms have been specifically located away from the main area of the hotel to ensure a quiet night's sleep. There are also a number of bedrooms suitable for wheelchair users with lift access to each floor. Facilities include television with satellite/cable channels, a direct dial telephone and tea and coffee making facilities. The en suite bathrooms have been fitted with a shower/bathtub and hairdryer, the beds are double, and Internet access and heating also feature. For the more energetic there is an on-site gym, whilst those preferring a slightly slower pace can try their hand at Pitch and Putt, croquet or Garden Jenga. There is also a golf course and angling centre only a short drive away. The establishment believes that the quality of the food should be reflected in the delightful settings of Richardson's Restaurant, and so has created a relaxed, ambient dining setting for all to enjoy. Each dish is prepared with care and imagination using fresh local produce by the Head Chef Kevin Mulraney and his highly skilled and dedicated brigade of chefs. A continental buffet breakfast is served daily at this half-board hotel. The hotel is situated about 16 km north of York, just off the A19 York/Thirsk road. Turn off the A19 onto the minor road signposted to Huby. The hotel is situated half a mile along this road on the left.

The book has some very minor creasing to the spine but is otherwise in very good condition.

This is a top mountain biking area in the heart of the Peak District. A superb network of off road bridleways and byways, exhilarating downhills, tough climbs, great views, cafes and pubs. When you get back you know you’ve been on a ride!The map shows all the off roads in the area with surface descriptions, technical gradings, uphil indicators, loads of spot heights and useful features such as gates and of course cafes and pub locations. We've highlighted some routes to get you started but the area is so rich in mountain biking that you will soon be using the map to make up your own variations to make longer, shorter, harder or easier! The map is A4 (210 x 297mm) in size and comes in a sealed waterproof cover. On one side is the mountain bike map and on the other side are text descriptions of the suggested routes.These are our suggestions whch are arrowed on the map and described on the reverse.The Mountain Bike Routes: It is easy to use the map to tailor the routes to your requirements - lengthen, shorten, make harder, make easier! Mardy Bum 14 miles A very varied mountain bike route that starts at Hope (and right across from the very mountain bike friendly Woodbine Cafe!). A bit of climbing near the start quickly gets you out in thick of it then a long grassy and bare earth downhill brings you onto some minor lanes. Some more off road then onto the big climb of the day (all on a minor lane; so rideable) which leads you to two sections of very different downhill (the first a wide straight track and the second a more technical descent) then its onwards and back to the finish. Route Profile Pain for Pleasure14 miles This mountain bike route has about a mile of coasting then its uphill, you're going to have to walk some of it (but its going to be worth it), soon you reach some flat then around a corner and your on the start of a superb bit of downhill. Nothing too technical at the top, but enough obstacles to keep you on your toes. The final bit gets a bit stony but keep your nerve and you can do it! A nice flat bit to get your breath back then its more downhill and you start to realise this is really the best sport in the world.Your onto a flatish path now, but an option to detour is there. Climb up into the trees for a fast descent back down to Ladybower. What follows next is a short respite before a climb (all rideable) and then on to the final descent of the day, which could have you screaming for more! Route Profile Rawhide30 miles We would run out of superlatives if we described this mountain bike route. Suffice it to say that it has it all. Climbs that are a breeze, climbs to make you suffer, breezy downhills and downhills you're going to be day dreaming about for weeks. The distance is tough and you'll be climbing about 4,800 feet in total; so you're going to have to be fit, but you can always tackle part of it (its easy to use the map to shorten as required) and save the rest for your next adventure.
