'The Lost Princess' has had a history. It first appeared in England in 1875 with the title 'A Double Story', as a serial in the magazine 'Good Things'. Later that same year it came out as a book with the title 'The Wise Woman: A Parable'. A year later it appeared in the United States as a book with the title 'A Double Story'. In England it went out of print in 1890, to appear again five years later with handsome illustrations and another title, 'The Lost Princess or The Wise Woman'. With 4 colour plates and line drawings in the text by D. J. Watkins-Pitchford. Introduction by Elizabeth Yates. J. M. Dent & Sons, London, 1965. Part of the Illustrated Classics series.
